July 03, 2007: Twas
the night before... |
The eighth season of Big Brother and I still feel like a
kid on the night before Christmas.
So what will CBS bring us this year? We already know
more about the houseguests than in previous seasons. The cast
appears to be from many varied places and walks of life, mostly
twenty-somethings, however, in past season we'd learn pretty fast that their
listed hometowns are where they lived before they moved to Hollywood to be
actors. In the past, we also found that most of the vocations listed are
what they did before they started tending bar.
We don't have to figure out if there's a gay one this
year, Joe announced his preference right up front. The rumor going around
is that Dustin also waves the rainbow flag. I'm not sure of the roots of
the rumor, but in
his
list of favorites he picked
Fosse: The Original Broadway Cast
as a favorite CD so the rumor looks true. I don't care if they have
a showmance, just don't sing showtunes, it causes
FotH.
This year we have another girl too young to drink,
Daniele, a twenty-year-old waitress. She lists her favorite drink as a
Margarita, I'm sure she means without the Tequila and
Triple Sec.
I've already picked out who I think will be the heroes and
villains. I hope I'm wrong, it should be this easy. I was checking
out the poll on the Real.com site " Which new HouseGuest looks the most
annoying?" and the results were: Amber 14%, Dick 10%, Jessica
5%, Joe 3%, Zach 21%. My pick was Jessica, but that's just a
pre-show vibe.
So I'd like to welcome everyone back to another
voyeuristic summer in Studio City. Now for our yearly reminders:
Don't take our opinions seriously, we're fans, so we can't be impartial,
but we try to have fun with our judgmental, high-horse attitude. At
some point our fans will overload our web server, you can help by not constantly
refreshing the page. Covering the live feeds 24/7 takes a lot of helpers
posting updates in our forums, register in our
forums to make this page. You can help too, when you watch the
live feeds, post an update.
Of course you need live feeds to watch, hurry and sign up today before the
Live Feed Early Bird
Special Price expires.
On the subject of helpers, it takes hundreds and I'll try to name them all at
the end of the season, but most of what gets posted on this page is the work of
"Jem" so everybody say thanks.

'Big Brother' has her under a watchful eye
By Peter Johnson, USA TODAY
When The Early Show news anchor Julie Chen began hosting CBS' Big Brother eight
summers ago, critics chastised her and the network for blurring the lines
between news and entertainment by having a journalist host the show.
It was no fun, says Chen, 37, who had never been the
subject of any big news articles. "People were writing that I was horrible in
the job, and there was all this talk about 'blurring the line' and 'What's
happening to journalism?' "

The third time was the charm for Kail Harbick, a 37-year-old real estate broker
from McKenzie Bridge, who has been picked as one of 14 contestants slated to
appear on the CBS reality show "Big Brother 8." The program debuts at 8 p.m.
Thursday.
"She has been a fan of the show forever and thought it would be real fun to go
in and try and win," said Harbick's husband, Darin. Together, the couple own the
Historical Holiday Farm Resort, Harbick's Country Store,
Harbick's Country Inn

turned down. The winner of the reality game show will take home $500,000.

'Big Brother 8' announces cast
By VARIETY
CBS is making "Big Brother 8" more interactive than past
editions, plotting a twist in which one of the game's players will be controlled
by the whims of the American public.
Net's annual summer sudser, which kicks off July 5 at 8 p.m., has also locked in
its cast. It'll once again be a young bunch, with most of the 14 players in
their 20s-- and the oldest contestant just 44.
And, in a nod to a past "Big Brother" theme in which players were surprised to
find out that their ex-flames had been recruited, this year's cast will include
a few pairs of players with unresolved beefs.
The biggest twist, however, is a game element called "America's Player." In a
nutshell, that contestant will have the chance to win extra sums of money-- but
only if they carry out certain actions mandated by viewers via internet or text
message voting. Chosen player might be asked to vote somebody out of the house
or something more personal, such as flirting with another player. Eye is hoping
the twist will give viewers more of a stake in the outcome of the game, in the
same way auds who watch "American Idol" get to shape that competition.
Theme for this year's "Brother" house is "Alice in Wonderland," with a number of
eclectic touches throughout the pad (think really big beds and tiny chairs).

'Big Brother' producer promises "something die-hard
fans will love"
By Christopher Rocchio and Steve Rogers, 06/25/2007
CBS still hasn't revealed the details of this summer's new Big Brother twists,
however executive producer Alison Grodner predicts at least one of the
eighth-season changes will become an instant favorite with the long-running
summer reality show's viewers.
"This year, there will be something die-hard fans will love," Grodner teased to
Daily Variety about a new still-undisclosed play-along-at-home component that
will be part of Big Brother 8. "It will give them the opportunity to participate
even more than they have in the past."
Big Brother 8 will premiere on Thursday, July 5 at 8PM ET/PT. After its debut,
the show will air on Sundays and Thursdays at 8PM ET/PT and Tuesdays at 9PM
ET/PT.

almost-uncensored. |
Big Brother is going balls-out in its return this summer--
literally-- as CBS simultaneously launches an almost-uncensored spin-off series
on cable. Big Brother: After Dark will feature a live, unedited feed from the
"Big Brother" house, three hours a night (midnight till 3 am ET/PT) on ShoToo,
Showtime's widely available companion net.
With so many cameras in the house capturing multiple storylines, an online
producer will decide which camera views audiences will see. But producers are
making it clear that profanity and nudity will be allowed. Up until Big Brother
season 5 in 2004, nudity was allowed on the show's webcast on CBS.com.

Big Brother, After Dark launching on Showtime
Come July 5, rabid fans of CBS's Big Brother will have a new way to spy on the

house on one of its sister Showtime channels. Dubbed Big Brother, After Dark,
the live action in the house will air every night from 12 p.m. to 3 a.m. on

available in over 14 million homes.

CBS plans 'Big Brother' spinoff
Reality hit spawns new series for cable
By JOSEF ADALIAN
The CBS summer staple is expanding in a big way for its
eighth season, with the Eye planning to launch a spinoff series on one of its
cable nets.
"Big Brother: After Dark" will feature a live, unedited feed from the "Big
Brother" house. Skein will run three hours nightly from midnight until 3 a.m.
ET/PT on ShoToo, Showtime's widely available companion net.
Because there are so many cameras in the house capturing multiple storylines, an
online producer will decide which cameras auds will see. Profanity and nudity
will be allowed, but the feed will be interrupted if houseguests say anything
slanderous or that violates music copyrights.
Because "Big Brother" originates from Los Angeles, the feed viewers see will
feature activity taking place between 9 p.m. and midnight.
"That's primetime for the 'Big Brother' house," said exec producer-showrunner
Allison Grodner. "It's when our houseguests are most wide awake and having fun,
talking about strategy and playing the game. People are going to see quite a
bit."
- Live feeds from inside the house will continue to be
streamed via the Internet. Eye is partnering again with RealNetworks, which
will charge $14.99 per month for the feed.
- "House Calls," the Internet talk strip devoted to "Big
Brother" will be back for its fourth season. Gretchen Massey will host.
- Full-length episodes of the show will be streamed via
the CBS Audience Network to multiple Web sites. Eye will also let users post
selected clips to blogs.
- Eye will offer several mobile-phone packages packed
with "Big Brother" content, including one in which subscribers can get
breaking news of major developments inside the house.

schedule. Big Brother is the only sure pickup, and she doesn't yet know
if Rock Star will be back. Boooo..." That was the only

Hi everybody, just wanted to check in and let you know we
have nothing to report. Usually by this time of year we can confirm
next season's show, but CBS has yet to announce an eighth season of Big
Brother. We are still very hopeful as the
CBS site is still taking applications.
Things are quiet on BB web sites, Moosie, a
moderator at Howie's web site checks in
with us from time-to-time, and it seems like the All-Stars are all just laying
low. |
