Special Airings Celebrate the Groundbreaking 2009 Film Surrounding the Release of Its Sequel, ‘Avatar: The Way of Water,’ Which Arrives in Theaters Thursday, December 16

In celebration of Disney’s highly anticipated return to Pandora, “Avatar: The Way of Water,” The Walt Disney Company will offer viewers several opportunities to experience its innovative predecessor, “Avatar,” throughout the month of December across its unparalleled distribution platforms including ABC, FX, and Freeform.

About “Avatar: The Way of Water“

Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, “Avatar: The Way of Water” begins to tell the story of the Sully family (Jake, Neytiri, and their kids), the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive and the tragedies they endure.

Directed by James Cameron, “Avatar: The Way of Water” stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Cliff Curtis, Joel David Moore, CCH Pounder, Edie Falco, Jemaine Clement, Giovanni Rabisi, and Kate Winslet.

Screenplay by James Cameron & Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver. Story by James Cameron & Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver & Josh Friedman & Shane Salerno. The film’s producers are James Cameron and Jon Landau, with David Valdes and Richard Baneham serving as executive producers. “Avatar: The Way of Water” will open in theaters on December16.

🎂 Happy Birthday to Buzz Aldrin

Buzz Aldrin was born Edwin Eugene Aldrin Jr. on January 20, 1930, and turned 93 years old today. Aldrin is a former astronaut, engineer, and fighter pilot. He made three spacewalks as pilot of the 1966 Gemini 12 mission. As the Lunar Module Eagle pilot on the 1969 Apollo 11 mission, he and mission commander Neil Armstrong were the first two people to land on the Moon. After earning a Doctor of Science degree in astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Aldrin was selected as a member of NASA's Astronaut Group 3, making him the first astronaut with a doctoral degree. His first space flight was in 1966 on Gemini 12 during which he spent over five hours on extravehicular activity. Three years later, Aldrin set foot on the Moon at 03:15:16 on July 21, 1969 (UTC), nineteen minutes after Armstrong first touched the surface, while command module pilot Michael Collins remained in lunar orbit. -READ MORE-

Known for his versatility and physical transformations for his roles, he has been a leading man in films of several genres. He has received various accolades, including an Academy Award and two Golden Globe Awards. Forbes magazine ranked him as one of the highest-paid actors in 2014. Bale had his breakthrough role at age 13 in Steven Spielberg's 1987 war film Empire of the Sun.
