Veteran character actress Norma Michaels passed away from natural causes on January 11 at her home in Palm Springs, CA. She was 95.
Michaels was best known as Josephine from King of Queens, also known for roles in Modern Family, 2 Broke Girls, and Everybody Loves Raymond. On the big screen, Michaels was known for Easy A (2010), Wedding Crashers (2005) and Bad Ass (2012). She appeared with Sally Field as her mother in Hello, My Name Is Doris (2015),
Michaels career started in the 1950s with an appearance on The George Gobel Show, but later took a break from acting to become a therapist, and returned to acting in the late ’80s in “Highway to Heaven.” Her last TV appearance was on “Brooklyn Nine-Nine.”
Survivors include her longtime manager and friend Jasper Cole; his husband, Dennis Turrone of Palm Springs and Los Angeles; and several cousins.
Memorial services and a celebration of life are planned for March.
