“Last Lands,” The Two-Part Documentary Series on the Battle to Protect the Health of the Planet, Streams on ABC News Live, Disney+, and Hulu Beginning Thursday, October 16

The Multiple Emmy®-Nominated Series, Hosted by Bob Woodruff, Explores Preservation Efforts in Guatemala’s El Mirador and Panama’s Coiba National Park

“Last Lands,” the multiple Emmy®-nominated series, returns for a deep dive into the battle to protect the health of the planet and streams on ABC News Live, Disney+, and Hulu beginning on Thursday, October 16, @ 8:30PM EDT. The gripping two-part documentary series, in partnership with Global Conservation, is hosted by award-winning ABC News correspondent Bob Woodruff and spotlights conservation efforts to preserve Earth’s most threatened ecosystems.

Woodruff embarks on a journey to Central America – El Mirador in Guatemala and Coiba National Park in Panama – to learn how national parks act as sanctuaries, crucial to the health of the planet and a safeguard to endangered species. Each episode will immerse viewers in the vital work of preserving national parks and the relentless efforts of those on the frontlines around the world.

The episodes’ highlights include the following:

El Mirador is a former thriving Mayan city, now hidden by a near-impenetrable rainforest. Woodruff ventures to see the ancient city through the eyes of its protectors: the park rangers who are risking their lives to save the rainforest at large and their heritage. (October 16 @ 8:30PM EDT)

Coiba National Park lies 15 miles off the coast of Panama. The island, previously home to one of the most notorious prisons in all of Central and South America, is now in the middle of the world’s largest shark and humpback whale superhighways. Woodruff documents the overwhelming beauty of this forgotten corner of the world and investigates the impact of cartels using the route to smuggle illegal products north. (October 23 @ 8:30PM EDT)
