· In 1945, eight years after Amelia Earhart’s disappearance, a group of Australian soldiers inadvertently stumbled across her downed airplane in the jungles of Papua New Guinea. Now, a team of specialists will use the soldiers’ exclusive testimony and an old patrol map to attempt to locate the plane and finally bring Amelia Earhart home.

· Nome, Alaska – the one place in the world where the toughest gold miners use their ingenuity and skill to brave the dangers of diving under the ice – has been flipped upside down this season. While gold prices have soared to an all-time high, chaotic El Niño conditions are making the grounds nearly impossible to access, creating a shifting ice field filled with dangerous formations called pressure ridges. This treacherous terrain forces some miners off their claims and creates a funnel effect, pushing the fleet into fewer minable spots and in much closer proximity to each other. To combat the most unpredictable ice season in history, the miners must rethink their gameplans and choose all new strategies.
