It was announced Monday that Julianne Hough will be replacing Tyra Banks as co-host for Season 32 of “Dancing With the Stars.”
Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli, and Derek Hough, a former professional dancer on the show and Julianne Hough’s brother, will return as judges.
Banks, who announced her exit on Thursday, March 16, joined Dancing With the Stars as host while it was still on ABC in 2020, replacing Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews. She stayed as host through its final seasons on ABC, making the switch to Disney+ in 2022 where she was joined by new co-host Ribeiro. Banks opened up about her departure from the competition series to TMZ.
“I feel it’s really time for me to focus on my business and my entrepreneurship, and also producing more TV — but behind the scenes,” she said. “I think it’s time to graduate from the dance floor to the stock market floor… from the ballroom to the boardroom.”
Like her brother, Hough was a former professional dancer on the show, having joined in 2007 and winning two seasons.
Hough left in 2009 to pursue other projects but has appeared on “DWTS” over the years as a guest host.
“It is such an honor to be rejoining ‘Dancing with the Stars’ as co-host. The show holds such a special place in my heart from the many years and different roles I have had the privilege of being a part of,” Hough says in an exclusive statement to Variety. “The incredible team that brings the ballroom to life every night has been my family for the past 17 years. I am so excited to reunite with Alfonso, Carrie Ann, Bruno, Derek, the unbelievably talented pros, and the amazing cast on the dance floor. The energy is magnetic every time you step foot in to the ballroom and I can’t wait to feel it again — and of course to share it all with the absolute best and most loyal fans — for another exciting season.”
