American Idol is gave fans a taste of the farewell season, today, in a new promo that gives a nod to its past.
The clip takes a look back at the show’s biggest moments– a young Kelly Clarkson introducing herself to a smiling Simon Cowell, Fantasia, Jennifer Hudson, Chris Daughtry, Kris Allen, David Cook, Jordin Sparks, Lee DeWyze, Ruben Studdard and Phillip Phillips.
The original trio of Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson also gets a nod as Clarkson’s coronation song “A Moment Like This” plays in the background.
With judges Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr. front and center, the promo invites the audience to “Discover an Idol One Last Time.”
American Idol will begin its 15th – and final – season with a two-night, four-hour showcase on Wednesday, January 6 and Thursday, January 7, both from 8-10PM. American Idol will remain in the Wednesday 8PM hour into new drama Second Chance, effective on January 13.
