Tonight CBS will take a break from a day of College Football to air a rerun of their new “FBI” program and the 30thseason premiere of “48 Hours”
Season Premiere: “48 Hours” 9:00PM on CBS “Click for a Killer” Peter Van Sant and the team explore the ways people can hire assassins through the dark web and attempts to expose an international criminal organization in order to pursue a self-described murderous mastermind who is simply known as “Yura.”
But this isn’t the way Saturday night TV used to be. The networks aren’t even trying to program Saturday nights, they don’t think there are enough people staying home to make it worthwhile. This was not the case in the old days, TV was the reason to stay home on Saturdays. There were no DVRs in 1973, no VCRs, no On Demand, and you couldn’t watch it on your phones, you had to stay home for this amazing line-up:
CBS:
8:00-8:30: All in the Family
8:30-9:00: M*A*S*H
9:00-9:30: The Mary Tyler Moore Show
9:30-10:00 The Bob Newhart Show
10:00-11:00: The Carol Burnett Show
The other two networks didn’t run reruns, even though they didn’t stand a chance of beating CBS
ABC:
8:00-8:30: The Partridge Family
8:30-10:00: ABC Suspense Movie
10:00-11:00: Owen Marshall: Counselor at Law
NBC:
8:00-9:00: Emergency!
10:00-11:00: NBC Saturday Night at the Movies
But all is not lost! All the shows I listed from the 1973 CBS Saturday night schedule can be streamed to you from Amazon. If you want more than three networks airing college football, take a look at Amazon.
