Guest starring Downton Abbey\u2019s Sophie McShera.<\/p>\n<p>Based on novels by Maureen Jennings, &#8220;<em>Murdoch Mysteries<\/em>&#8221; follows young detective William Murdoch. In a series of stories taking place in Toronto during the 1890s and early 1900s, several challenging murder cases arise.<\/p>\n<p>Murdoch uses up-and-coming forensics techniques and an unconventional approach, which often elicit skepticism from his fellow officers and his boss. Coroner Julia Ogden becomes Murdoch&#8217;s number one ally, and they make a top-notch team, but he must struggle against tradition and prejudice to solve some of the city&#8217;s most gruesome murders.<\/p>\n<p>This is one of my favorite series because it mixes historical fact with fictional mysteries, that sends me to Google to look up the real history. In past episodes, they had plots that included the feud between Nikola Tesla and Thomas Edison, the inventions of Alexander Graham Bell and this season&#8217;s first episode we find architect Frank Lloyd Wright in Canada. But is this fiction or fact?
