HBO’s new drama series LOVECRAFT COUNTRY debuts SUNDAY, AUGUST 16 (9:00-10:00PM ET\/PT) on HBO and will be available to stream on HBO Max. Based on the novel of the same name by Matt Ruff,<\/a> the ten-episode series follows Atticus Freeman (Jonathan Majors) as he journeys with his childhood friend Letitia (Jurnee Smollett) and his uncle George (Courtney B. Vance) on a road trip from Chicago across 1950s Jim Crow America in search of his missing father Montrose (Michael Kenneth Williams). Their search-and-rescue turns into a struggle to survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and monstrous creatures that could be ripped from an H.P. Lovecraft paperback.<\/p>\n

The series stars Jurnee Smollett (“Birds of Prey<\/em>,” “Underground<\/em>“), Jonathan Majors (“Da 5 Bloods<\/em>,” “The Last Black Man in San Francisco<\/em>“), Aunjanue Ellis (“When They See Us<\/em>“); Abbey Lee (“Mad Max: Fury Road<\/em>“), Jada Harris (“The Resident<\/em>“), Wunmi Mosaku (“Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them<\/em>“), and Michael Kenneth Williams (HBO’s “The Wire<\/em>” and “Boardwalk Empire<\/em>“). Recurring guests include Courtney B. Vance (HBO’s “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks<\/em>,” “American Crime Story<\/em>“), Jamie Chung (“Once Upon a Time<\/em>“), Jamie Neumann (HBO’s “The Deuce<\/em>“), Jordan Patrick Smith (“Vikings<\/em>“), and Tony Goldwyn (“Scandal<\/em>“).<\/p>
