Renée Kathleen Zellweger was born on April 25, 1969, and turned 55 years old today. Zellweger is the recipient of various accolades, including two Academy Awards, two British Academy Film Awards, and four Golden Globe Awards, she was one of the world's highest-paid actresses by 2007. Initially aspiring for a career in journalism, she was drawn to acting following her brief work on stage while in college. Following her minor roles in the films Dazed and Confused and Reality Bites, Zellweger made her debut starring role came with the slasher film Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation. She rose to prominence in the late 1990s for her starring roles in the films Jerry Maguire, One True Thing, and Nurse Betty, winning a Golden Globe Award for the last of these. For her roles in the films Bridget Jones's Diary and Chicago, Zellweger gained consecutive nominations for the Academy Award for Best Actress.
