Prime Video has today debuted the official trailer for the highly anticipated Australian Amazon Original series Top End Bub, launching on Prime Video in Australia and New Zealand on September 12.
A TV series follow-up to the 2019 box office smash hit Top End Wedding, Top End Bub is a heart-warming eight-part series that sees Miranda Tapsell (Love Child, The Sapphires, The Artful Dodger) and Gwilym Lee (Bohemian Rhapsody, The Great) reprise their roles as Lauren and Ned.
Lauren and Ned are living their best lives in the city, which is tragically interrupted when Lauren’s sister Ronelle dies in a car crash in the Top End. Rushing back to Darwin, Lauren and Ned are thrown into the chaos of Top End life with Lauren’s parents, Daffy and Trevor, and confronted with another curveball when they unexpectedly become the guardians of Ronelle’s lively and cheeky young daughter, Taya.
Rounding out the ensemble cast are returning favourites Ursula Yovich, Huw Higginson, Shari Sebbens, Elaine Crombie, Rob Collins, and Tracy Mann, alongside new cast members Brooke Satchwell, Guy Simon, Clarence Ryan, and making her screen debut as Taya, Gladys-May Kelly.
“Miranda, Josh, and the team at Goalpost Pictures have created something truly special in Top End Bub. This series is filled to the brim with heart, warmth, and humour. We are so proud to bring the series to Prime Video customers in Australia and New Zealand and can’t wait for audiences to fall in love with the Ford family again, while escaping into the beauty of the Top End of Australia,” said Sarah Christie, Head of Local Originals Australia and New Zealand, Amazon MGM Studios.
“Josh Tyler and I had such a ball writing Top End Wedding that we just had to get the whole team back together to reunite Lauren and Ned for a new spin-off series, Top End Bub,” said Miranda Tapsell. “Everything you love most about them, their family and the Top End, is all there for you to enjoy! In a world full of chaos and anger, we hope the show brings joy and laughter into your home!”
“I’m incredibly excited that Prime Video customers in Australia and New Zealand will soon to be able to watch Top End Bub. Goalpost Pictures is incredibly proud of this series. It’s been a wonderful experience to work again with Miranda and Joshua, and my thanks also to the Prime Video team, who are great partners on the Top End Bub journey,” said Rosemary Blight, Co-CEO, Goalpost Pictures.
The series is created, written, and executive produced by Miranda Tapsell and Joshua Tyler, and produced by Goalpost Pictures. Goalpost Pictures’ Rosemary Blight is Executive Producer, and the series is directed by Christian Van Vuuren and Shari Sebbens. Top End Bub is supported by Screen Australia, Screen Territory, and the South Australian Film Corporation. The series will launch on Prime Video in Australia and New Zealand and is distributed internationally by ZDF Studios.
