Magnolia Network announced today the premiere date for its newest original series, The Last Wright: Building the Final Home Design of America’s Greatest Architect, debuting Wednesday, September 3, 2025 @ 8PM/7c on Magnolia Network, with episodes available to stream the next day on HBO Max. The four-part limited series follows mother-daughter team Debbie Dykstra and Sarah Dykstra as they take on the ambitious challenge of building a home based on the last set of plans created by legendary architect Frank Lloyd Wright before his death in 1959.
Executive produced by Chip and Joanna Gaines, The Last Wright offers an unprecedented look at the intersection of timeless design and modern construction. The series documents the Dykstras’ journey as they navigate the realities of present-day building codes, materials, and craftsmanship – all while honoring the principles of Wright’s visionary architecture.
“Watching The Last Wright unfold has felt like history being brought to life, and it’s been an honor to help tell the story of the RiverRock House,” said Joanna Gaines, Co-Creator of Magnolia Network and Executive Producer of the series. “The Dykstras did an incredible job ensuring every detail stayed as true to Frank Lloyd Wright’s plans as possible, and we can’t wait to share this project with you.”
Frank Lloyd Wright is widely regarded as one of the most influential architects of the 20th century, celebrated for his innovative philosophy of organic architecture – designing structures in harmony with humanity and the environment. With more than 1,000 architectural works to his name, including such monumental icons as Fallingwater and the Guggenheim Museum, Wright’s work continues to inspire architects and designers around the world. The Last Wright captures a rare opportunity to see one of his final residential designs come to life more than six decades later.
“With The Last Wright, we’re offering something truly special – an intimate look at what it means to bring a historic design into the present day,” said Allison Page, President, Magnolia Network. “This series perfectly embodies what Magnolia is all about, especially our passion for telling stories that celebrate meaningful work, creative passion, and the beauty of thoughtful design.”
Filmed in Willoughby Hills, Ohio on the Dykstra’s property that also features The Louis Penfield House, a Frank Lloyd Wright Usonian home built in 1953, The Last Wright: Building the Final Home Design of America’s Greatest Architect follows the Dykstras as they bring to life a home blending Wright’s historic artistry with contemporary sensibility. Each episode highlights the careful balance between preserving architectural integrity and adapting to modern needs.
“Throughout the filming of this series, while facing many challenges associated with building from the ground up following FLW’s plans, our guiding question to the construction team was always ‘What would Frank do?’ We are thrilled that Magnolia Network collaborated with us to tell the story of Frank Lloyd Wright’s last residential home plan, #5909, to share the architectural genius of FLW with enthusiasts, as well as a new generation of fans,” said Sarah and Debbie Dykstra, General Contractors/Owners, RiverRock House.
New episodes will premiere weekly on Magnolia Network starting Wednesday, September 3 @ 8PM/7c, with next-day streaming on HBO Max beginning September 4. The four hour-long episodes will showcase the trials, triumphs, and timeless beauty of this remarkable build from foundation to finish.
