Survival Mode, an all-new weekly limited series produced by NBC News Studios, premieres Monday, July 7 @ 10PM ET/9PM CT on NBC. Across nine episodes, the series chronicles some of the most recent devastating disasters – including the Maui wildfires, the Amtrak 501 derailment, Superstorm Sandy, and the sinking of the Costa Concordia – through firsthand accounts from survivors and rare archival footage.
Each episode offers an in-depth look at how ordinary people, alongside first responders and loved ones, faced extraordinary circumstances.
Monday’s premiere features three groups of residents in Fort Myers Beach – a mother and her parents, four close neighbors, and a group of boaters anchored just offshore – who chose to stay and face Hurricane Ian, the deadliest storm to strike Florida in a generation.
