AMC Networks’ July Highlights Include “Nautilus,” “Hell Motel,” “The Furry Detectives,” “The Madame Blanc Mysteries,” “Call of the Night,” and More

This July, AMC Networks features an epic programming lineup across its suite of networks and streaming services, including new episodes of AMC Original adventure series Nautilus, starring Shazad Latif (Star Trek: Discovery); Sundance TV’s gripping new docu-series The Furry Detectives: Unmasking A Monster from Academy Award-winning Alex Gibney’s Jigsaw Productions; the season finales of Shudder’s psychological horror anthology from the creators of Slasher, Hell Motel, starring Emmy®-winner Eric McCormack (Will & Grace), and Acorn TV’s crime series Art Detectives, starring Stephen Moyer (True Blood). The month also features the return of Acorn TV fan-favorite The Madame Blanc Mysteries starring Sally Lindsay (Coronation Street); a new season of HIDIVE’s acclaimed supernatural romance drama Call of the Night; plus the premiere of ALLBLK Original Film Operation: Aunties starring Tisha Campbell (Martin, Act Your Age) and Melissa De Sousa (The Best Man).

Film debuts deliver a star-studded lineup on AMC+ including crime drama The Luckiest Man in America, starring Paul Walter Hauser (Black Bird) and Walton Goggins (The White Lotus); Shudder’s home invasion horror Push, from the filmmakers of acclaimed indie thriller The Boy Behind The Door and Djinn; and World-War II-set creature feature Monster Island.

Nautilus (AMC Original Series)

Inspired by Jules Verne’s beloved Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, Nautilus follows Captain Nemo’s (Shazad Latif, Star Trek: Discovery) mission to enact revenge on the East India Mercantile Company, who took everything from him. Nemo audaciously steals a prototype submarine from the penal colony in which he is imprisoned, escaping into the ocean with a motley crew of fellow prisoners. He plans to reach the fabled Viking treasure buried at the Pillars of Halvar. But first, he must win the trust of his crew and keep out of the clutches of the ruthless East India Mercantile Company, who will do whatever it takes to stop him. The series also stars Georgia Flood (Apples Never Fall) as Humility Lucas, Céline Menville (Emily in Paris) as Loti, and Thierry Fremont (Liaison) as Benoit, with guest appearances from Oscar®-nominee Richard E. Grant, Anna Torv, and Noah Taylor.

Based on Malay Folklore and drawing inspiration from Creature From the Black Lagoon, this creature feature is set in World War II. A Japanese ship transporting prisoners of war to occupied territories for slave labor. After being torpedoed by allied submarines, a Japanese soldier and a British POW are stranded on a deserted island and soon discover that they’re being hunted by a ferocious mythological creature, the Orang Ikan. Both the soldier and POW realize that they must work together to survive the unknown, despite their differences. Starring Dean Fukjioka (Fullmetal Alchemist) and Callum Woodhouse (All Creatures Great & Small).

From Academy Award®-winning Alex Gibney’s Jigsaw Productions, this riveting true crime docu-series, The Furry Detectives: Unmasking A Monster unpacks the 2018 event known in the Furry community as the “Furry Zoosadist Leaks,” which exposed a horrifying conspiracy of animal abuse lurking beneath the Fandom’s playful exterior. The series follows the pack of dedicated vigilantes who teamed up to bring down the monsters behind the masks. Navigating the line between amateur sleuthing and official police investigation, the Furry Detectives exposed a ring of animal abusers, fought for victims, and defended their community from the evil within.

The fourth season of The Madame Blanc Mysteries returns to the wonderful world of Sainte Victoire, packed with unusual antiques and objéts d’art, murder, mystery, sunshine and laughter. Sally Lindsay (Coronation Street, Still Open All Hours, Cold Call) returns as Jean White, who is navigating a fledgling romance with her sidekick Dom Hayes, played by Steve Edge (Starlings, Murder They Hope, Maxine). Co-writer Sue Vincent (Mount Pleasant, Shameless) stars as mechanic Gloria Beaushaw, while Robin Askwith (Strike, Benidorm) and Sue Holderness (Only Fools and Horses, Still Open All Hours, The Green Green Grass) reprise their roles as eccentric married couple Jeremy and Judith Lloyd James, and Alex Gaumond (Derry Girls, My Dinner With Hervé, Death In Paradise) is back as Chief of Police André Caron. Throughout the season, the artfully astute detectives encounter a fake Vermeer, Viking gold, a rare Chinese vase, and items rescued from the Titanic. This Greek detective series, based on the popular book series from Petros Markaris, is set in Athens and follows Homicide Chief Kostas Charistos. He interrupts his vacation to investigate the discovery of a body after an earthquake on the Greek island where he was staying with his wife, daughter, and her boyfriend. But he also has to deal with the murder of a young Albanian couple.

New South African drama centered on renowned marine biologist Martin Field (Frank Rautenbach) who, after losing his beloved wife Julia (Amalia Uys) to tragedy, leaves his old life behind and moves his rebellious teenage son and daughter to his childhood home in Simon’s Town to begin again. With Julia’s memory as his driving force, he pours his heart into setting up a conservation trust to protect the marine life along the False Bay coast.
