Nickelodeon is continuing the mythology and adventure of the animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender with Avatar: Seven Havens, an all-new series from creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. Set in the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender, the original 26-episode, animated series centers around a young Earthbender who discovers she’s the new Avatar. The news was announced today by Ramsey Naito, President, of Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Animation.
“For two decades, the richly crafted world of Avatar: The Last Airbender has introduced audiences to a world of compelling characters and groundbreaking storylines, captivating fans globally,” said Naito. “We can’t wait to embark on the next chapter of this epic saga, with a new story set within the Avatarverse, envisioned by the original creators, Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko.”
“When we created the original series, we never imagined we’d still be expanding the world decades later,” said Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. “This new incarnation of the Avatarverse is full of fantasy, mystery, and a whole new cast of amazing characters. Get ready to take another epic and emotional adventure!”
Avatar: Seven Havens is set in a world shattered by a devastating cataclysm. A young Earthbender discovers she’s the new Avatar after Korra – but in this dangerous era, that title marks her as humanity’s destroyer, not its savior. Hunted by both human and spirit enemies, she and her long-lost twin must uncover their mysterious origins and save the Seven Havens before civilization’s last strongholds collapse.
The series is in production under the Avatar Studios banner from Nickelodeon Animation in Burbank. Avatar: Seven Havens is comprised of Book 1 (13 half-hour episodes) and Book 2 (13 half-hour episodes). Michael DiMartino (Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Legend of Korra) and Bryan Konietzko (Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Legend of Korra) are co-creators and executive producers. Ethan Spaulding is executive producer and Sehaj Sethi is co-executive producer. Additional news of the premiere date and casting will be announced at a later date.
Previously announced, Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies’ highly anticipated Untitled Animated Aang Avatar film debuts only in theatres on January 30, 2026, featuring a voice cast that includes Dave Bautista, Dionne Quan, Jessica Matten, RomΓ‘n Zaragoza, and introducing Eric Nam.
The news comes as Nickelodeon celebrates the milestone 20th anniversary of Avatar: The Last Airbender with all-new original digital content across the Paramount ecosystem, one-of-a-kind experiences, and exclusive consumer products and games. Since its debut on February 21, 2005, Avatar: The Last Airbender has been a fixture with fans around the world, spawning a universe of popular characters, a spinoff series with The Legend of Korra, several bestselling book series, live orchestra world tour, and an upcoming theatrical film.
