Winter Specials and Women in Crime: BritBox’s December Lineup Features Sophie Turner-Led “Joan” and Exclusive Holiday Programming

BritBox to cap the year with Christmas specials from fan-favorites “Sister Boniface Mysteries,” “Death in Paradise,” “Peep Show” and more

Mother. Lover. Liar. Thief. Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones) stars as the titular Joan Hannington, Britain’s most notorious jewel thief. Joan, inspired by true events, comes to BritBox on December 5.

BritBox fan-favorite Shetland is back. BAFTA and Emmy-nominee Ashley Jensen (Extras) returns to the crime drama as DI Calder, desperate to solve her friend’s mysterious disappearance. Shetland season 9 launches on BritBox December 11.

BAFTA-nominee Siobhan Finneran (Happy Valley, Downton Abbey) is a witness protection officer in crime drama Protection, premiering exclusively on BritBox on December 29.

Rounding out BritBox’s “women in crime” lineup is The Jetty. BAFTA-nominee Jenna Coleman (Doctor Who) detangles a thrilling mystery in season 1, arriving to BritBox on December 13.

Seasonal programming in time for the holidays: Christmas specials from Sister Boniface Mysteries, Death in Paradise, Beyond Paradise, Peep Show and more will premiere throughout the month.
