Born in Williamstown, Massachusetts, on August 19, 1969, Perry was raised in Ottawa, Canada, where he attended elementary school with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
His mother, Suzanne Morrison, was a journalist and press secretary to Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, Justin’s father.
Perry’s stepfather is Dateline‘s Keith Morrison. His father, John Bennett Perry, was an actor and model — the younger Perry even guest-starred in an episode of his dad’s cop show, 240-Robert, in 1979.
Perry moved to Los Angeles as a teenager. Perry made small appearances in several television shows including “240-Robert,” “Charles in Charge,” “Silver Spoons” and “The Tracey Ullman Show” before he landed a leading role in the show “Boys Will Be Boys” from 1987 until 1988.

Perry was on “Friends” with Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer. The cast of the show came back together in 2021 for “Friends: The Reunion” where they revisited the set of the show, read through scenes, and laughed through some of the show’s most popular moments.
Following his time on Friends, Perry went on to star in Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip for one season. In 2011 he was the star, creator, executive producer, and writer of Mr. Sunshine which ran for 13 episodes. A recurring role on The Good Wife followed. Perry also starred and executive produced Go On in 2012.
In 2014, Perry guest-starred on Cougar Town, reuniting on-screen with his Friends co-star Courteney Cox. The following year, Perry reunited with another Friends star, Lisa Kudrow, for Web Therapy. Perry starred in The Odd Couple for three seasons before reprising his role of Mike Kresteva on The Good Fight in 2017. Perry portrayed Ted Kennedy in the limited series The Kennedys: After Camelot. His last television credit is from 2021 when he reunited with the Friends cast for the HBO Max special.
Perry also starred in a number of films with early credits including A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon, She’s Out of Control (1989), Fat Man and Little Boy (1989), and Getting In (1994).
