“It’s like detective work when I’m climbing up on a roof, digging around underneath a house or sniffing out mold,” said Joe. “Making a home safe for a family is always my number one priority.”
In the premiere episode, Joe and Noel will meet homeowners Jessie and Rex who have encountered several costly problems when attempting a much-needed renovation. Joe will immediately spot the cause of the property’s ongoing water damage, advising to regrade the yard to prevent future flooding. Noel will see the potential in the home’s exterior, leaning into its Cape Cod style and suggesting the addition of an entryway and portico with a new stone walkway. She also will tackle the cramped kitchen and living room so the family has space to gather, either for meals or around the piano. In the meantime, Joe will continue his search for structural red flags, uncovering a cracked foundation and leaky plumbing, both of which will take a bite out of the budget. Future episodes will feature fixes ranging from abating lead paint and asbestos to repairing cracked walls and sloping floors, but once Joe and Noel address every flaw, families will enjoy gorgeous, safe homes.
