
TNT’s Regular Season Coverage Highlighted by Exclusive Wednesday Night Telecasts, 2023 Discover NHL Winter Classic on January 2 & Four Weeks of Sunday Afternoon Games This Spring
Turner Sports, a division of Warner Bros. Discovery Sports, will enter its second year of live NHL on TNT coverage with a 62-game regular season schedule highlighted by the 2022 Stanley Cup Champions Colorado Avalanche raising their championship banner during a marquee opening week doubleheader on Wednesday, October 12, the 2023 Discover NHL Winter Classic on Monday, January 2, regular live game coverage on Wednesday nights and additional live Sunday afternoon games in Spring 2023.
The 2022-23 season will culminate with NHL on TNT’s first-ever presentation of the 2023 Stanley Cup Final, in addition to half of the Stanley Cup Playoffs – Round One, Round Two and Conference Finals.
The league’s biggest stars will take center ice throughout NHL on TNT’s regular season coverage with seven appearances by the New York Rangers and Pittsburgh Penguins, along with six by the Boston Bruins, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Avalanche.
NHL on TNT’s opening week coverage will spotlight prominent NHL storylines, starting with Alex Ovechkin – the third leading scorer in NHL history – and the Capitals in their home opener against Patrice Bergeron and the Bruins on Wednesday, October 12, @ 7PM ET. Later @ 9:30PM, TNT will feature the banner raising ceremony of the 2022 Stanley Cup Champions as James Norris Memorial & Conn Smythe Trophy winner Cale Makar, superstar centerman Nathan MacKinnon and the Avalanche take the ice against the visiting Chicago Blackhawks.
The NHL on TNT weekly schedule will feature exclusive coverage on 27 Wednesday nights throughout the season. NHL on TNT will also host doubleheaders on both Tuesday, November 8 – Edmonton Oilers at Tampa Bay Lightning @ 7:30PM and Nashville Predators at Seattle Kraken @ 10PM – and a special Black Friday doubleheader on Friday, November 25, starting with the “Battle of Pennsylvania” – Penguins at Flyers – at 5:30PM and the St. Louis Blues vs. Tampa Bay Lightning @ 8PM
In Spring 2023, TNT will add four weeks of Sunday afternoon telecasts through March and April.
NHL on TNT will also host the 2023 Discover NHL Winter Classic, pitting Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins against David Pastrnak and the Bruins at Fenway Park – home of the Boston Red Sox – on Monday, January 2. The marquee outdoor game will be TNT’s second consecutive year broadcasting the highly anticipated annual event.

On Wednesday, October 26, TNT will feature a crosstown rivalry as the Rangers and Vezina Trophy-winner Igor Shesterkin will take on the NY Islanders, led by new Head Coach Lane Lambert, for local bragging rights. Later that night, the Eastern Conference Champion Lightning and centerman Steven Stamkos will visit rising star Trevor Zegras and the Anaheim Ducks.
The most lethal duo in hockey – former Hart Memorial Trophy Winners Connor McDavid (2021) and Leon Draisaitl (2020) – will return to the NHL on TNT stage on Tuesday, November 8 as the Edmonton Oilers face the Lightning, along with 2019 MVP Nikita Kucherov.
Stars collide on Wednesday, November 9 @ 7:30PM when Ovechkin – quickly closing in on Wayne Gretzky’s career goals scored record – and the Capitals will play host to superstar centerman Sidney Crosby and the Penguins.
TNT will feature a Thanksgiving Eve doubleheader on Wednesday, November 23 with the Philadelphia Flyers at the Capitals @ 7:30PM, followed by the Vegas Golden Knights hosting the Ottawa Senators @ 10PM
2022 Hart Memorial Trophy Winner Auston Matthews and the Toronto Maple Leafs will host two Original Six matchups within a month:
The Leafs host the Rangers on Wednesday, January 25 @ 7PM in a battle of Original Six teams that stand to be 2023 Stanley Cup Playoff contenders.
Then later, on Wednesday, February 15 @ 7PM, the Blackhawks and captain Jonathan Toews will travel to Scotiabank Arena.
Matthews’ final game on TNT this season will be against the defending Stanley Cup Champion Avalanche and Stanley Cup Playoffs MVP Makar on Wednesday, March 15 @ 7PM
The first Sunday game of the NHL on TNT regular season schedule will be on March 5 – a showdown in the South as the Carolina Hurricanes host the Lightning. Additional Sunday matchups will include:
A doubleheader on Sunday, March 12 starting with an Original Six showdown as the Bruins travel to Hockeytown to play the Detroit Red Wings at 1:30PM, followed by the Penguins hosting the Rangers at 4PM
A blockbuster doubleheader of 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs teams on Sunday, April 2 – the Rangers will travel to Washington, D.C. to play the Capitals at 1PM, followed by the Bruins at the Blues at 3:30PM
On Sunday, April 9 the Bruins visit the Flyers at 6PM; then later, the Ducks host the Avalanche @ 8:30PM
Division rivals Kirill “The Thrill” Kaprizov and the Minnesota Wild will travel to Ball Arena to take on the Avalanche on Wednesday, March 29, @ 10PM
On Wednesday, April 5, @ 7:30PM, TNT will showcase a rematch of the 2022 Eastern Conference Final, when the Rangers host the Lightning in both teams’ final regular season game on the network.
