Ovation TV Celebrates Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month in May

Every Friday night during its "Red Carpet Cinema" block, the arts network celebrates AAPI Heritage Month with compelling films starring AAPI casts.

For 2022’s Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month, Ovation TV, America’s premier arts network, recognizes AAPI artists and artistry across all mediums throughout the month of May with weekly feature presentations during its Friday night “Red Carpet Cinema” block, weekly airings during its “Morning Canvas” block, and a curated on-demand programming lineup. The arts network’s Mystery Alley digital destination (FAST channel and on the Ovation NOW app) will also be streaming the first two seasons of the crime drama Blood and Water, which features Simu Liu (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings) and other Asian actors who have positively affected American pop culture.

Every Friday night during its “Red Carpet Cinema” block, the arts network celebrates AAPI Heritage Month with compelling films starring AAPI casts, including Tie the Knot (2016), The Other End of the Line (2007), Outsourced (2006), and 5 Weddings (2018). Each film will begin airing @ 7PM ET.

Ovation TV will also air AAPI programming during its “Morning Canvas” block, weekdays from 6AM ET to 8AM ET. Those titles include documentaries The Rise of K-Pop, Bruno Mars: Just the Way I Am, Vice President Kamala Harris: Chase the Dream, and Ballerina (2016) about Indigenous dancer Ella Havelka, as well as featured episodes on Norah Jones (The Great Songwriters) and Ai Weiwei (Celebrity Conversations), and select episodes from series such as The Art Of, American Canvas, The Method, Chasing the Sun, Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations, and Gordon Ramsey’s Great Escape.

Starting on Sunday, May 1, the arts network will also highlight diverse cultures and traditions, connecting with the people of Asia and the Pacific Islands, in a curated on-demand programming lineup. All titles below will be available during the month of May, free to all, on the Ovation NOW app and on the Ovation TV Watch website. The Ovation NOW app is free to download and is available on Roku, Android, Apple TV and iOS devices.

Finally, the arts network’s Mystery Alley digital destination (FAST channel and on the Ovation NOW app) will also be streaming the first two seasons of the crime drama Blood and Water, which features Simu Liu (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings), Elfina Luk (The Good Doctor), Steph Song (Smallville), and other Asian actors who have positively affected American pop culture. The series follows an ambitious young detective (Song) investigating the murder of a tycoon’s troubled son. Mystery Alley is currently available as a FAST channel on Plex, DistroTV, and Freebie.tv, and through the Ovation NOW app on Roku, iOS, Apple TV, Android.
