Ovation TV, America’s only arts network, will begin airing the first five seasons of British drama series Doc Martin next month. Created by Dominic Minghella, Doc Martin is a beloved dramedy produced by Buffalo Pictures and executive produced by Mark Crowdy. Martin Clunes stars as the gruff Doc Martin in this comedic fish out of water tale about a city doctor who moves to the country. Doc Martin will air in three-hour blocks starting on Thursday, December 9th at 11pm ET. Viewers can enjoy a double dose of British mystery every Thursday night, with three episodes of Doc Martin airing immediately after four episodes of Death in Paradise.
When the brilliant but socially awkward and neurotic Doc Martin develops an aversion to blood, he abandons his career as a celebrated London surgeon and becomes the only doctor in a sleepy small town where his tactless manner soon has the whole town in an uproar. Season one will begin airing on Thursday, December 9th. Season two will begin airing on Thursday, December 23rd. Additional seasons will air in 2022.

Episode 101 “Camino a Bodmin” airs Thursday, December 9 @ 11PM ET
When a vacancy arises in the sleepy Cornish hamlet of Portwenn, Dr. Martin Ellingham jumps at the chance, but later realizes that adjusting to village life is not going to be plain sailing. In his sharp suits and flashy car, Martin is like a fish out of water, and his brusque manner does not go down too well with some of the locals.
Episode 102 “Gentlemen Prefer” airs Friday, December 10 @ 12AM ET
Martin has decided to stay in Portwenn but realizes that he will have to make some changes to the way in which the surgery is run. When he refers Roger the former teacher for a biopsy, the results bring bad news. Roger is also bitter because Louisa got his old job. Martin also fires Elaine for inefficiency – only to find that the entire village shuns him.
Episode 103 “S… Happens” airs Friday, December 10 @ 1AM ET
Martin makes his debut on a local radio station – but doesn’t make a great impression on the interviewer, Bert and Al argue over Al’s plans to go to college, and a nasty stomach bug sweeps through the village – but is the swimming pool or the water to blame? Meanwhile, Louise is keen to make amends with Martin, but then Mark invites himself along too.
Episode 104 “El Efecto Portwenn” airs Thursday, December 16 @ 11PM ET
The Portwenn Players dance is being held in the village. Louisa buys two tickets and invites Martin along, but as dancing and social occasions are not his thing he turns her down. Louisa then invites Mark instead. He is over the moon and asks Martin’s advice on his lack of success with the opposite sex.
Episode 105 “Of All the Harbors in All the Towns” airs Friday, December 17 @ 12AM ET
An old flame of Joan’s sails back into her life and sweeps her off her feet, then Martin discovers that the man is seriously ill. Elsewhere, schoolgirl Melanie develops a crush on the doctor and Martin fears her father’s wrath when she keeps showing up at the surgery.
Episode 106 “Haemophobia” airs Friday, December 17 @ 1AM ET
Martin doesn’t take kindly to the influx of holidaymakers, and his attempts to point out the dangers of sunbathing to one woman don’t come across very well. Elsewhere, gossip spreads about Martin’s phobia of blood and he becomes the subject of a practical joke in the pub, and one of Louisa’s pupils has an accident and an ambulance has to be called to take him to Truro for emergency treatment.

OverviewDoc Martin is a British television comedy drama series starring Martin Clunes in the title role. It was created by Dominic Minghella after the character of Dr. Martin Bamford in the 2000 comedy film Saving Grace. The show is set in the fictional seaside village of Portwenn and filmed on location in the village of Port Isaac, Cornwall, England, with most interior scenes shot in a converted local barn.
