Edward Bridge "Ted" Danson III was born on December 29, 1947, and turned 77 years old today. He achieved stardom playing the lead character Sam Malone on the NBC sitcom Cheers, for which he received two Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards. He was nominated for more Emmy Awards for roles in the legal drama Damages (2007-2010) and the NBC sitcom The Good Place (2016-2020). He was awarded a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame and was ranked second in TV Guide's list of the top 25 television stars. -
Also on this Day, We Remember Mary Tyler Moore born on December 29, 1936. She is best known for her roles on The Dick Van Dyke Show (1961–1966) and The Mary Tyler Moore Show (1970–1977). Moore won seven Primetime Emmy Awards and three Golden Globe Awards. She was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in Ordinary People. Moore died in 2017. -
