Jim Gaffigan is back on Comedy Central on Friday, November 23 at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT in the network debut of Jim Gaffigan: Noble Ape, a special 90-minute event.
In Noble Ape, Gaffigan gets personal as he discusses the medical crisis that hit his wife and family this year, which almost led to his retirement. Using his signature everyman humor to deal with the unthinkable, Gaffigan proves why the Wall Street Journal called him the “king of clean comedy.”
Noble Ape was recorded live at the Wilbur Theatre in Boston, MA after a sold-out North American Tour of theaters and arenas. A Comedy Dynamics original, it premiered on July 13 in theaters and on demand.
Leading up to the on-air premiere, cc.com and the CC App will feature preview clips from the special. On Saturday, November 24, the full special will be available to stream in the CC App and on CC.com. Fans can follow Gaffigan on Twitter at @JimGaffigan and Comedy Central Stand-Up at @standup to join the social conversation around #NobleApe.
Gaffigan has an unprecedented 13 films that have released or started production this year, including his first leading role in a dramatic thriller, Saban Films’ recently acquired American Dreamer (Tammy Blanchard, Robbie Jones), which premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival to rave reviews, and he will co-star with Academy Award winners Viola Davis and Allison Janney in the forthcoming Troupe Zero. Gaffigan also starred as the lead in Cold Iron Pictures’ comedy You Can Choose Your Family, which also premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival.
In addition to his dramatic turn as Paul Markham in the Ted Kennedy biopic Chappaquiddick, Gaffigan also voices the iconic monster hunter Abraham Van Helsing in Hotel Transylvania 3 (Adam Sandler, Kathryn Hahn) and appears in the Fox Pictures comedy Super Troopers 2 (Steve Lemme, Rob Lowe), Boundary Stone Films’ fantasy Shadow Girl (Megan Fox, Olivia Thirlby), and Bron Studio’s comedy Henchmen (Rosario Dawson, James Marsden). He will also star in the Amasia Entertainment thriller Them That Follow (Walton Goggins, Olivia Colman), in Drunk Parents (Alec Baldwin, Salma Hayek), and as the voice of the Goose in Original Force Animation’s Duck Duck Goose (Carl Reiner, Stephen Fry). A previous Gaffigan one-hour special, Jim Gaffigan: Obsessed, made its world premiere on Comedy Central in 2012.
