ABC Debuts “Truth and Lies: Jonestown, Paradise Lost” While CBS and FOX Roll Out More Premieres Tonight

SERIES PREMIERE: 8:00PM ABC Truth and Lies: Jonestown, Paradise Lost The 40th anniversary of the Jonestown massacre is documented, which features interviews from leader Jim Jones’ two surviving sons, while video, audiotapes, and FBI documents are used to explore questions about the horrific events that transpired.

SEASON PREMIERE: 8:000PM CBS “MacGyver” Three months after MacGyver quit the Phoenix Foundation and moved to Nigeria, he decides to move past his differences with his father and come back after he discovers that Jack has been targeted by a murderous dictator whom he double-crossed. Cast: Lucas Till, George Eads, Justin Hires, Tristin Mays, Meredith Eaton, Tate Donovan.

SEASON PREMIERE: 8:00PM FOX “Last Man Standing” “Welcome Baxter” After ABC canceled “Last Man Standing” Tim Allen went shopping for another network. When the series was canceled in May 2017 some people claimed it was for political reasons. However, ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey said on a press call with reporters that she canceled “Last Man Standing” for the same “business and scheduling reasons” that led to the cancellation of other shows. “Last Man Standing” was a FOX production, being filmed at CBS Studios, and airing on ABC. In tonight’s premiere, we catch up with the Baxter family a year after the sixth season finale, Mike and Vanessa eagerly await Eve’s visit home from the Air Force Academy. Ryan finds himself struggling with anxiety about recent events that soon lead to an unexpected announcement. Cast: Tim Allen, Nancy Travis, Molly McCook, Kaitlyn Dever, Amanda Fuller, Christoph Sanders.

SERIES PREMIERE: 8:30PM FOX “The Cool Kids” “Pilot” A group of three retirement home friends are determined to prove that there is still much for them to accomplish in life despite their age, which makes them feel as though they have little left to lose whether they succeed or not. Cast: David Alan Grier, Martin Mull, Vicki Lawrence, Leslie Jordan, Artemis Pebdani.

SEASON PREMIERE: 9:00PM CBS “Hawaii Five-0” “Ka ‘owili’oka’i” McGarrett allows himself to be captured by a group he believes is responsible for killing Steve’s CIA agent friend and is forced to endure torture; Tani struggles to tell McGarrett about the murder weapon that she discovered at Adam’s house. Cast: Alex O’Loughlin, Scott Caan, Chi McBride, Jorge Garcia, Ian Anthony Dale, Meaghan Rath.

SEASON PREMIERE: 9:00PM FOX “Hell’s Kitchen” “Rookies vs. Veterans” Eight former “Hell’s Kitchen” contestants face against eight ambitious new cooks for a life-changing prize to work as the Executive Chef at one of Gordon Ramsay’s restaurants; the experienced cooks must recreate the new cooks’ signature dishes. SERIES PREMIERE: 10:00PM CBS “Blue Bloods” “Playing with Fire” Danny accepts a personal case that involves a drug cartel member who he considers responsible for burning his house; Erin is promoted at the district attorney’s office; Frank and Jamie disagree when Jamie declines to stop riding with Eddie. SEASON PREMIERE: 10:00PM NBC “Dateline NBC” “On the Outskirts of Town” Correspondent Andrea Canning reports on the case of a young woman, who is discovered dead near a rural sports complex in Indiana, but as detectives investigate to solve the mystery, they are led to an unexpected suspect.
