Roseanne, the sitcom about the lives of the working-class Conner family returns to The ABC Television Network with eight new episodes featuring the original cast Roseanne Barr (Roseanne), John Goodman (Dan), Sara Gilbert (Darlene), Laurie Metcalf (Jackie), Michael Fishman (D.J.) and Lecy Goranson (Becky). Sarah Chalke, who played the character Becky in later seasons, will also appear in another role.

When we last saw the Connor family, Dan had died, but he’s alive now as Roseanne wakes up in bed, “I thought you were dead!” Roseanne says. “You looked happy. I thought maybe you moved on.”

Dan’s death is not the only thing they undid from the final season in which the Connor won the lottery and became rich, yes, once again the family is, how they’ll forever be remembered, working-class poor.

Roseanne never became a professional writer. Neither did Darlene (Sara Gilbert), who’s returned home with her two kids. Roseanne’s other daughter, Becky (Lecy Goranson), is a widow waiting tables, never having gotten a college degree (actor, Glenn Quinn, who had played Becky’s husband, Mark, died in 2002 of a heroin overdose).
