New CBS Crime Drama RANSOM debuts January 1

CBS will begin rolling out its new scripted programming on New Year’s Day with the launch of RANSOM, a crime drama about a world-renowned crisis and hostage negotiator whose team is brought in to resolve the most difficult kidnap and ransom cases.

RANSOM debuts on Sunday, January 1 after a football doubleheader, and will anchor CBS’ primetime on Saturday nights (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on January 7. Luke Roberts, Sarah Greene, Brandon Jay McLaren and Nazneen Contractor star.

RANSOM stars Luke Roberts, Sarah Greene, Brandon Jay McLaren and Nazneen Contractor. Frank Spotnitz, through his company Big Light Productions, serves as executive producer. Created by David Vainola and Spotnitz, RANSOM is a Canada-France co-production and is co-produced by leading independent studio Entertainment One (eOne), which also handles international distribution; Valerie Pechels and Odile McDonald of Wildcat Productions; Jennifer Kawaja and Julia Sereny via their Sienna Films banner; and Jocelyn Hamilton for eOne. RANSOM was co-developed by Corus Entertainment Inc. and TF1, with the participation of the Centre National du Cinema et de l’Image Animé in France as well as Canada Media Fund, and is produced with the financial assistance of the Ontario Film and Television Tax Credit and the Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit.
