Paolo family are still waiting for a van taxi big enough; Linz Family squeezed into a yellow cab. Bransen family arrives at airport after Siblings. Then the Paolo arrive. Godlewski girls leave the pit stop at 1:39am, with one sister saying she is bossy but right. Weavers leave in 5th place, followed by the Gaghan family at 1:54am. Daughter says it is better to be second to last than eliminated. Godlewski girls arrive at the airport. The Gaghan family excited to finally leave US.

There are two flights, with Linz, Bransen and Paolo get on first plane. One of the Godlewski girls criticizes the Paolo son for being ugly to his mother. Gaghan family are on the second flight, along with Weavers and the Godlewski family. In Panama at 6:40am, the teams look for the Smithsonian Institute, as Paolo Mom tries to put son in his place. One of the Linz siblings speaks Spanish, but can’t follow what the taxi driver is saying. Paolo family arrive at the institute first, and look for boats. The first boat departs at 7am. The Linz siblings ask if there are alligators in the water, and the taxi driver says yes. Bransen Family arrives at the Institute in 3rd place. The second flight lands at 9:42pm. The teams climb into vans. Godlewski blondes are in 4th place, Gaghan family in 5th place, and the Weaver family in last place. They all sleep in a shack by the dock. Part One [9 minutes] 

It is 7:00am, and Paolo family are on the first boat, followed by Linz and Bransen families. Godlewski girls are in 4th place, followed by Gaghan and Weaver families. They cruise up the Panama Canal, as Bransen family passes the Linz siblings. Godlewski girls then pass the Linz family into 3rd place. While the Weaver family pass the Gaghan family. Linz family fall into 5th place. Gaghan family are distressed as their boat driver diverts to pick up another passenger. The driver agrees to drop them off first.

The Paolo family arrive at the target dock and begin searching for their clue, followed by Bransen family in 2nd place, Godlewski Blondes in 3rd, Weaver family in 4th. There are multiple people along the trail who are not Ricardo Diaz. Godlewski girls find him first, and get a Detour. In Rhythm, team travel by Red Devil bus to a city where they have to collect a trumpet, trombone, saxophone, and conga drum. In Coos, teams travel to a park and must find replicas of 5 birds. Godlewski girls choose Rhythm.

There is one Fast Forward, in which team must go to the Pacific side of the Panama Canal and find a crane, performing a tandem bungee jump Paolo family go after the Fast Forward. Godlewski and Bransen families find the clue, followed by Gaghan family in last place. Godlewski girls choose to go after the Fast Forward. Paolo family get on the boat, followed by Weavers. Linz family are in 4th place. Weaver family tell the other boat captains to go slow. Paolo family are in 1st, with Weavers passing them. Godlewski blondes pass Paolo family. Linz siblings in 4th place pass Paolo family. The Weaver family drop into 3rd. Godlewski girls are in 1st place. The Weaver family passed their dock and Paolo family are first back to the mainland.

The other teams have to backtrack. Godlewski girls are in 4th, Linz siblings in 5th, Weavers in 6th. Gaghan family are in 6th and choose Fast Forward. Linz siblings are upset with the weavers playing dirty. The Weaver family are in last place. Brian Paolo is proud his father is a garbage man. Gaghan family say bus is better than their school bus. Godlewski girls stop for directions and pick up a guide. The Weavers family stop and follow a native. Godlewski family hire a taxi to follow. Brian Paolo has a fear of heights, and Mom says she will kill him if he passes out.

Gaghan family run to the Fast Forward, but Paolo family are the first there. Gaghan hope Paolo family will be too scared. Dad tries to calm Brian down, saying don’t look down. Gaghan family hope one will not chicken out. Mom says they can’t chicken out, as brother teases Brian asking if anyone has died from it. Dad and older son are the first to go. Brian and Mom are the next to go. Brian says he can’t do it, not in a million years. But he sucks it in, and screaming all the way completes the Fast Forward. It was unbelievable, he says, he’s still alive. Gaghan climb into their bus and make for the Detour.

The Paolo family proceed to the Mira Flores locks, the pit stop. The Bransen family guide asks them to take her to work. The Weaver family arrive at Bird Park, and have trouble with the binoculars. They get two birds, 3 birds; they complete the Detour but get a one bird incorrect. Bransen family arrive and start looking for their birds. Linz siblings arrive at the Rhythm Detour. They get the Saxophone as Paolo’s arrive at the Pit Stop. As the first team to arrive, they win a trip for 4 to Panama, staying at a rain forest resort on the Panama Canal. Brian said he never expected he would do this with his parents; he jokes he doesn’t even like to eat with them.

The Weaver family complete the Detour and head for the baseball stadium 2 miles away to search for their next clue. Bransen family finds their birds, with Dad describing the birds top to bottom. They complete the Detour and head for the Baseball field. Linz family get their Trumpet, followed by Drums. Godlewski family are on the search as Linz family collect their instruments and head for the music club.

Gaghan family arrive at the Rhythm detour. The Linz siblings put the instruments in their cases and head for the baseball diamond. Gaghan family complete their Detour. Weaver family arrive at Stadium and receive a road block. One team member must get a hit or homer off a little league pitcher. Teams get only 3 pitches before another team gets a turn. Rolly is the first up for the Weaver family. Bransen family arrives in 3rd place. Rolly is out as Beth steps in and is out. Linz and Godlewski families arrive at the stadium.

Rolly Weaver gets their second turn, the pitcher lets the ball roll between his legs, and the Weaver family get their clue to the Pit Stop. The Weaver family complain the Linz siblings were rooting against them. Gaghan family complete the Detour and head to the baseball game in last place. Bransen family are at the plate, and gets a hit and their next clue. Nick Linz makes quick work at the plate in 4th place. Gaghan arrive at ballpark. Dad chooses to do it. Sharon Godlewski is at bat for her team. Gaghan son says Dad is a great baseball player and he quickly homers past the Godlewski girls.

The Godlewski family are the last team, as Sharon wilts under the pressure. Sharon pretends it is a boss who wouldn’t give her a raise and gets a hit. They make for the Pit Stop. Holy Rollers are the 2nd team to arrive. Bransen, Linz and Gaghan families for the Pit Stop, as Gaghan are blocked by the delivery of a Pepsi refrigerator. Blondes put on extra clothes in case it is a non-elimination round and they lose their clothes. Bransen is the 3rd team to arrive, followed by Linz in 4th place. Gaghan are freed up as Blondes give their bus driver an exciting view in the rear-view mirror. Gaghan are first to arrive, team #5.

The Godlewski family are the last team to arrive, loaded in clothes. This is not an elimination leg, and they are dressed appropriately. They have to give up all their money and will not receive any more money at the next leg of the race. They also have to give up all possessions except what they are wearing. Phil asks if they knew it was illegal in Panama to wear underpants on top of underpants on top of underpants. The girls say they have to have a sense of humor, and plan to depend on the goodness of the Panamanians to get back into the game. Part Two [9 minutes]
