November 3, 2005 Episode #8: "The Hidden Immunity Idol" |
Nakum
Day 18
We see the old Yaxha tribe making
their way to the Nakum camp after tribal council. Danni feels weird walking
up the road to the camp. The four Yaxha members have a small meeting before
seeing the others. Gary tells them to act stupid, Bobby Jon tells them to
act happy that they are there and they all agree to act like servants. Bobby
Jon tells us, “It’s real tough for me to walk In here tonight because I
can’t be around Steph for more than five minutes without wanting to vomit.
Jamie, I can’t be around for more than five minutes without wanting to knock
him out So I don’t know what I’m gonna do.”
Bobby Jon, Danni, Brandon and Gary wake the other tribe members up, hand
out the new buffs and tell the others they voted Amy out. Steph explains
that her head is spinning because of the merge. At camp, the old Yaxha
tribe get the fire going. Jamie is telling them that there is no room in
the shelter for them so they will have to find somewhere to sleep. Bobby
Jon tells us he wants to knock all Jamie’s teeth out.
Day 19
The four members of the old Yaxha tribe spend the morning gathering fire
wood... and more fire wood. Jamie tried to get them to sit down but they
just seem uncomfortable. Brandon explains to us that it’s not one big
happy family. Danni tells us, “Nakum, you know I didn’t think that they
were that warm and friendly. Brandon, Bobby Jon, myself and I think Gary
does too, we feel kinda like slaves because we know our heads are on the
chopping block and we just try and do what we can do to stick around but
you just feel like an outsider.” Brandon
confirms what Danni has just told us by explaining that he feels that he
and Bobby Jon are first on the list to be voted off.
Rafe and Lydia go to get tree mail. They’re excited to see a basket. They
read the note with the basket and it explains that they have a new flag to
paint and have to choose a tribe name. Lydia gets the note back to camp
and reads the rest to the tribe. It explains that there is and individual
immunity idol hidden in the woods. It is in addition to the individual
immunity they compete for. The person who finds this 6-inch idol can use
it to save themselves at anytime at tribal council before voting has taken
place. Once they are at the final four as its powers expire. They don’t
have to tell anyone they have it.
The search is on. The cameras are following everyone around while they try
and find the idol and it’s driving the tribe crazy already. Gary, the good
secret keeper that he is confesses that he wouldn’t tell anyone if he
found it. Brando thinks it’s like looking for a needle in a hay stack and
they could be looking
for days. Nevertheless, they are all searching, even when it starts to
rain.
We see Bobby Jon and Steph talking (more than five minutes and I see no
vomit). He explains to Steph he really wants to make the jury this time.
She agrees that she would like to see him on the jury. She tells him, “I
will do everything in my power to make sure that Brandon goes first unless
he wins immunity.” They hug and go their separate ways.
Part One [7 minutes]
Day 20
Lydia asks if anyone has thought about their new name. They decide to
combine the old names, Nakum and Yaxha into the new name – Xhakum. Va va
va voom, Xhakum. Lydia said it means Yaxha and Nakum put together – they
are one big happy tribe, right now. Everything is A-OK.
Jamie tells us in confessional that the hidden idol could be worth one
million dollars, so he has been looking for it, because he doesn’t want
any of the old Yaxha to have it.
Bobby Jon says him, Brandon, Gary and Danni are sitting ducks. He spends
about an hour every day looking for the hidden idol. It is going to be
found, that’s for sure, they just don’t know when or by who. He says you
can drive yourself crazy over it. Judd says it is exhausting thinking
about it and looking for it all the time. He is going to take a break and
not look for it for awhile.
Rafe says he really wants to find it, but he is horrible at finding
anything. Rafe is looking for the hidden idol and accidentally sticks his
hand into a hornets nest at the top of a temple and is stung. He says he
is done, that it must be a signal from the Mayan gods that he isn’t meant
to find the idol.
Gary is making hooks and fly's for fishing. Stephenie complains that she
was expecting some kind of food or feast for the merge. There is usually
some sort of celebration involving food when the tribes merge or anything
big happens. She says the hidden idol is cool, but they’re starving – they
would rather have food.
Danni comments that at Yaxha everybody got along and the atmosphere was
positive. The Nakum members complain all
the time. They are so negative. The old Yaxha members decide to go fishing
to get away from it for a while. Rafe tell us in confessional that he is
not cool with acting like they (the old Nakum) are in control and making
the others do all the work while they sit around. Rafe is beginning to
wonder “am I a member of the Axis of Evil?” Rafe points out that bashing
other people when they are not around to bring group unity is not a pretty
way to play the game. The others are discussing the pecking order of who
goes home – they say Brandon, Bobby Jon then Danni.
Yaxha is shown fishing talking about how negative and rude the other (old
Nakum) tribe members have been, and about how much they have complained
about not getting food for the merge, and how they went thru all their
stuff when they came to camp. They note that Stephenie bitches a lot.
Bobby Jon points out that nobody ever eats on Survivor, they aren’t going
to eat on this survivor, and they probably won’t eat on the next survivor,
so why keep talking about it. Brandon and Bobby Jon wish they could go
back to their old camp and chill out like they used to. Back to Jamie who
says it is not time to be nice, it’s time to protect their investment of
blood and sweat, and it’s time to let those guys go home. Back in the
boat, Brandon says too bad we’re awesome and everybody else sucks. Danni
says we are the most wonderful people they’ve ever met. Bobby Jon says I
say it right back to all of em.
Part Two [6 minutes]
Xhakum
Day 21
Back from commercial we see the whole tribe around the pool, It’s set
offshore. Steph explains that they seem to have some kind of quick sand on
the beach and the pool had to be anchored out there so they come and go as
a tribe in the boat. We hear from Bobby Jon and he thinks that the final
six from the old Nakum tribe are not going to make it like they think they
are by picking off the old Yaxha tribe members.

Tree Mail |
"I don’t need practice.” Former Survivors have said.
“Carrying a pot around on my head?”
So if you feel safe. Ignore this note.
And be prepared to cast your next vote.
|
Back at camp, Brandon and Cindy get tree mail for today. There are two
pots sitting there waiting for them and a note. All the tribe takes a turn
practicing with the pots on their heads and walking around to see if they
can carry them. Danni breaks one of the pots while standing still.
For the most part, they all seem to do well with the pots.
The Challenge:
The survivors are greeted by Jeff and a table full of food. He takes back
the idol and buffs. After asking a few questions of the tribe, he explains
the challenge to them. They have a choice in this challenge. If they feel
they are safe in tonight tribal council, they can choose to sit and feast
while watching the ones that choose to compete. If they participate in the
challenge, they don’t eat. Jeff hands out a nut and a jade bead to every
person, if they want to compete they show the jade, if they want to eat
they show nut Rafe, Steph, Lydia and Jamie choose to eat. Gary, Bobby Jon,
Danni, Cindy, Brandon and Judd take part in the challenge.
They will take their place on a wooden cube and place pots on their heads.
They cannot touch the pot or step off the cube. If after one hour they are
all still standing, there will be a tiebreaker challenge. The c hallenge
begins and they other start eating. Jeff asks the other how the food it.
They all agree that it’s really good. Jeff then asks if they expected to
see only four people eating. Jamie explains that Bobby Jon and Brandon
know that there is a chance that one of them will be going home and Judd
wants to protect the old Nakum tribe. Jamie and Bobby Jon have words back
and forth. Thirty minutes in, Jamie is rubbing in into Bobby Jon and Rafe
feels very uncomfortable. Danni is out as her pot drops from her making a
small move. After an hour the move to the tie breaker.
They remove the pots from their heads and make their way to the Pyramid,
for the tiebreaker they have to move up the steps with the pots on their
heads. They are not allowed to touch the pot with their hands. The first
one to the top or the person who makes it the highest on the pyramid wins
immunity. Cindy and Brandon are out and then Bobby Jon drops his pot. Gary
makes it to the top and wins immunity. Jeff hands over the necklace and
sends them back to camp.
Part Three [9 minutes]
Day 21
Lots of arguing going on back at camp. Judd tells Jamie, “You know me, I
don't care what you do. You want to eat. You eat. You don't want to eat,
you eat, I just go in there and compete. The only thing that gets me
pissed is every time you were balking, man. I think everybody should shut
up, concentrating and you have been wrapping your mouth, I'm like dude,
shut up, man, shut up man, I can't listen to you right now.” Danni
explains how she feels coming into the merge, “we came into the merge with
just four people. And Nakum had six. And so obviously Jamie called it out
today. We knew our head was on the chopping block. He really called it out
today. He was very cocky, very arrogant and just a slap in the face.”
Cindi and Danni discuss Jamie at the challenge. Cindi says, “It wasn't
like we were like are not welcome here and get lost.”
Cindy says “Jamie did not show class at the challenge whatsoever. And I
think everyone agrees on that. People are seeing this nature in him, this
immunity and not liking it very much. Even Judd said the dude has to keep
his mouth shut.” Rafe is talking to Danni and is apologetic, “I feel so
crappy today, because I know who I want to be voting with. He tells us,
I’ve been asking myself like why are you sleeping with the devil?”
Bobby Jon arch nemesis Stephenie comes to see him and talks about whom
they are going to vote out. She tells Bobby Jon that they are all fed up
with Jamie and are thinking about voting him out. Bobby Jon says all he
wants is to get to the jury this time she says she wants him on the jury
if she is going to be there they hug and off she goes.
Bobby Jon then talks to Brandon and Brandon is pretty well convinced that
he is going home and has made peace with it. Bobby Jon says Jamie is
getting too cocky and his own tribe agrees he is digging his own hole. He
explains to Brandon what Stephenie has said. Bobby Jon says he felt like
getting of the block during the challenge and smashing his pot over
Jamie’s head. (I wish he had that would’ve been great lol)
Jamie comes along and tries to talk to them Bobby Jon says if he had his
way he would vote Jamie off Jamie says Brandon is on the block and Bobby
Jon says he feels like he is on the block too. Jamie then says we are just
all old farm boys trying to get in good with Bobby Jon and Brandon.
Brandon is reassured by what Stephenie has said and feels that he may have
a chance to stay. He said he is mentally prepared to go home but now this
information comes along he now has hope, he says he will crap in his pants
if it all works out. He is off to look for the idol to secure his place
the rest are just all laying around and Brandon is off in the jungle
searching for the idol. It’s near but he misses it. In his confessional,
“Finding the immunity idol would be awesome. I could search out here all
day long and not find the damn thing it’s only six inches big and I don't
even know what color it looks like.”
Gary says to Rafe, “If we do what's right, we vote for Jamie. If we do
what's right, integrity and what's right. There are five voting against
him, that's numbers.” Cindy hears and Danni says to her to vote however
she feels is right. Cindy says she wants to vote for Jamie and wont know
for sure until the time comes.
Tribal Council:
They hustle in and take their seats. They are all looking very concerned.
Jeff starts the questions.
Jeff: Talk about today's events, a lot going on out there some people
choosing to eat, some taking part in the challenge. Rafe, were you are
surprised when Jamie said Judd's up there to protect our lead, implying
he's up there to protect this alliance.
Rafe: For me it was hard to hear the comments Jamie was making. Just
because I didn't want it to become something like us versus them or six
versus four or anything like that. Which I guess was a little bit naive in
the game of survivor. This is a game about numbers. But this is also a
game about respecting each other and like I get really frustrated when we
don't do that.
Jeff: Bobby Jon., where does it sit with you?
Bobby Jon: I just thought that was no class. Somebody is sitting there
say, go Judd, I'm just like that is just no class. I mean yeah, it's 6-4,
whatever, I know that. That was just no class.
Jamie: I have class. So you can think what he wants to think. I'm the
bigger man.
Bobby Jon: Man, just shut up, dude, god.
Jamie: Bobby Jon., I think no class is when you have a chance for immunity
but you knew you had the numbers but you can't ask for it.
Bobby Jon: I knew that night I was safe and I am an adult. Brian needed
immunity that night. He
could have asked for it and I could have gone home.
Jeff: Cindy, why were you in the challenge today am you seem to be a part
of this magic six.
Cindy: For me, I can eat when I get home. But I will never have the chance
to do what I'm doing here ever again. And I'm going to do it as hard as I
can. And yeah it kind of hurt my feelings a little bit, made me feel like
this group of six people didn't have the faith in me that they have in
Judd. But I stood there for an hour just as long as Judd did. I did
everything I possibly could, you know. It
makes things run through your head well then, who am I, just standing here
for the heck of it. I'm an idiot for standing here.
Jeff: Gary, Is it fair to say the six people fighting for immunity today
deserve to stay in this game more than the four who chose to eat?
Gary: My hope would be that everybody votes their heart and not their
mind. Because at day 21, your mind can play tricks on you. But when you
leave this game and 39 days are over, your heart is going to be one that
will tell you what is right and wrong.
Jeff: Cindy, at this point in the game what do you base your vote on, is
it as Gary says heart and morality and who deserves it, or is it as long
as it ain't me.
Cindy: I think spending the time that we spend with people out here and
getting to know people and the level that you do, that your morals and
your heart definitely come into play a great deal. It's impossible to
block it out, if you even have a heart. So it definitely comes into play
when you are making a decision. It does for me.
Jeff: Okay, before we get to the vote, an immunity idol was hidden at your
camp. If anybody has found that and you want to use it, now is the time to
present it. Okay. Either nobody has found the idol or they just don't want
to reveal it at this time. Gary has individual immunity, he's the only one
you cannot vote for. Everybody else is fair game. Time to vote. Judd,
you're up.
Jamie’s vote for Brandon is shown, “I have the outmost respect for you. We
bled together and fought together, you are a good man. I'm sorry you had
to go.”
Bobby Jon. votes for Jamie, “Talk about having southern pride, part of
having southern pride is being a southern gentleman, and no, you don't
have any class at all.”
Jeff tallies the votes. First vote Brandon also second. The next two
are for Jamie. Then Brandon and Jamie it is tied. Brandon Jamie tied again
next two are for Brandon the ninth
person voted out is Brandon. He says an emotional good bye and Danni has a
few tears Jeff snuffs his torch with his usual speech and Brandon says
goodbye guys and off he goes on the walk of shame into the jungle.
Jeff says two of you will make the final and the rest of you will be on
the jury. Everything up till now and everything from now matters, grab
your torches and head back to camp.
Brandon's final words - "I
played the game I came out here to play. I think I played a pretty
good game, a straight up game. I wasn't always all about the money,
I was playing the game for myself. You can take me outta this game
before you take my pride. I think I did a pretty good job of that.
I can walk away from this and take something good with me."
