1, 2005 Episode #12: "Price for Immunity" |
Previously on Survivor: Gary tried to lure Lydia away from the alliance, but Judd was listening. At the reward challenge the shift in loyalty was exposed when Lydia helped remove Stephenie from the game. And Cindy smashed her way to victory. Cindy chose Rafe to join her on the hot springs waterfall reward. Back at camp, with Lydia on board, Gary and Danni concocted a plan to approach Rafe to join them in an alliance. But Danni was strategically keeping her options open. At the immunity challenge, Gary and Rafe were neck and neck, but it was Rafe who won immunity. Before Tribal Council, Gary had the opportunity to make his move with Rafe. At Tribal Council, Gary exposed Judd’s lie about the hidden idol.
But despite Gary’s efforts his tribe considered him too much of a threat. Rafe stuck with his alliance, and even Danni and Lydia helped vote Gary out. Six are left, who will be voted out tonight?
Xhakum, Day 31
Confessional, Danni tells us that last night Gary got voted out. Now that there are six left she is next on the
totem pole, about to get her head cut off.
Lydia says she was awake and not dreaming, and she smelled sausage and eggs. Judd says if you smell bacon and eggs it’s probably Steph farting again. Steph says she was in the bathroom, no more gas.
Danni tells us in confessional that the others are all acting like nothing happened. They had this heated tribal council last night with all the talk about lying, and she thinks everyone is scared now that everything has been called out in the open. She says these people are
unbelievable.
Judd, Steph and Danni are shown doing cartwheels and flips.
Danni says she is not going down without a fight. She is going to work something out. She knows Lydia feels like she is on the outs with this group, and thinks she is in with her, and it would take one more person to throw something. This perfect little alliance is going to have to start breaking up and attacking each other, they can’t all go to the final spot.
Reward Challenge
Jeff calls the tribe in for Reward Challenge and tells them to take a spot on the bench. Jeff says welcome to the survivor auction. He tells them they each have $500. They can pool money together but only the two who share the money can share in the item. The auction will end without warning, so if you see something you like you should bid on it.
The first item for bid is beef jerky, which Danni buys for $20. Jeff calls her up and says she can keep the jerky or take what is hidden. She chooses to keep the jerky, and Jeff reveals that the secret item was uncooked corn. Something nobody wants, observes Jeff.
Next item is 3 chocolate chip cookies and a glass of milk, which Cindy buys for $40.
An individual mosquito net is purchased by Lydia for $140, and she shows us how her back is covered with bites, and indicates her booty is covered with them too.
The next item up for bid is a covered item (Jeff says it could be the steal of the day). Danni and Rafe pool their money and buy it for $180, and discover it is a huge
Philly steak sandwich, fries and ketchup.
Jeff says the next item is something a little different. He reveals an envelope. He tells the tribe that inside the envelope is a huge advantage in the immunity challenge. Whether or not you win immunity or not depends on how you use it. He says if you think you are in trouble it’s worth bidding on. Danni buys it for $200. Jeff shows that the back of the envelope is sealed with wax. He says the seal must not be broken until the next challenge.
Jeff says the next item for bid is coming right around the corner. We then see the family members walking around the corner. Cindy’s twin sister, Mindy; Judd’s wife, Kristin; Rafe’s mom, Lonnie; Steph’s boyfriend,
Michael; Lydia’s brother, Joseph; and Danni’s brother, Drew. Jeff reveals that Lydia has not seen her brother for two years. Jeff tells the
tribe mates they are bidding on an overnight stay at camp with their loved one. Only two people can share money, but only one of them gets their loved one. After a lot of scrambling between Judd and Steph to get enough money (Cindy gives Judd her money, and Lydia gives Steph her money) Judd wins the bidding war and buys time with his wife for $880. Jeff tells him he can pick two other survivors to bring their loved ones back to camp. Jeff says that the remaining three survivors will go to spend the night at the old Yaxha camp, and they are not even allowed to get a hug from their loved ones. Judd chooses Cindy and Stephenie. Jeff says we have three very happy survivors and three who will have a rough night alone. He tells Lydia, Danni and Rafe to head on out. Jeff then tells Judd, Steph and Cindy to “take em back to camp”.
Part 1 [10 minutes]
Xhakum, Day 31
Judd welcomes the loved ones to what has been their home for the last 31 days. “this is what we call home, man”. Judd’s wife is shocked at his camping skills. He says she is digging it and thinks he is a sexy camper. Cindy is shown next to her (identical?) twin sister (they do look and talk remarkably alike). Stephenie talks in confessional about how great it is to have
Michael there with her. She says she owes Judd big time for choosing her, and that this is the second time he has shared a sweet reward with her. Judd talks privately to his wife and tells her that he, Steph, Cindy and Rafe are in a tight alliance, and he is hoping that Steph takes him to the final two.
Old Yaxha
Lydia tells Rafe it’s been a while since they have been there. Rafe says going back there was like a homecoming, but also a fight for survival. Danni and Rafe talk strategy. They talk about trust, and Danni says that Gary told her that she could trust Rafe. Danni confesses to us that Rafe needs a buddy. Danni puts doubts in Rafe’s head about Judd. Rafe tells Danni that they need to catch Judd in a lie so Steph won’t trust him anymore. Rafe says he and Danni are way closer than he and Judd. Rafe thinks Judd will try to get him out – he doesn’t trust him.
Back to Xhakum
Steph and Judd’s wife are talking and bonding. Steph talks about how great Judd has been out there. His wife is surprised because he is such a city boy. Judd asks Cindy if she thinks they are still alright with their final four. They talk about whether Danni will win immunity challenge or not and how that would affect the game. They seem pretty confident that Danni won’t win the IC because she is not a frontrunner. Judd says she is not a threat at all Cindy says the only thing she is good at is shooting baskets. Judd says if she wins it they will just get rid of Lydia. He says it’s so great that it’s worked out this way.
Part 2 [4 minutes]
Day 32
First thing in the morning, Judd, Steph and Cindy are showing their family members how to gather wood and chatting about what camp life is like. Rafe, Danni and Lydia come back to camp not expecting the family members to still be there. They all chat and get to know each other a little before they walk down to the pier to go. Judd’s wife in confession is upset while explaining she has never been away from him for more than 24 hours. It’s bitter sweet sending them off.
Later, Lydia is at the pyramid talking to Judd. She is trying to work out where his vote will go. Danni joins and listens in. Danni is working on everyone before the Immunity Challenge.
Immunity Challenge
Once again, immunity is back up for grabs. Today's challenge. It is for immunity. It requires smarts. It's a bit of a human chess game. Here is how it works. One at a time, you're each going to make a move on our multi-level board by flipping a tile to its red side and stepping on it. You can move forward. You can move backward. You can move side to side. You cannot move diagonally. Once you stepped off the red tile no one can step onto it again. In addition, the top platform is a spinning platform. So if at any time you want to strategically relocate yourself to somewhere else on the board, spin yourself to a new spot. As you all move around the board there will be fewer and fewer white tiles to flip over. At some point you'll run out of tiles to step on to. When that happens, you're out of the game. Last person left standing wins immunity, guarantees themselves a spot in the final five. Jeff asks Danni if she has the envelope she purchased at the immunity challenge with the seal in tacked. It is and Jeff tells
them to take a place on the board. Danni is the instructed to open the envelope. It contains a card that allows her at anytime to switch places with another player. It could work to her advantage if she uses it wisely. Jeff gets them underway. Cindy is out first followed by Lydia, and Rafe Half way Danni decides to swap with Steph and Judd is out. Last two standing are Steph and Danni. Steph runs out of tiles first and Danni wins Immunity.
Part 3 [11 minutes]
Back from Immunity, Steph is annoyed but she congratulates Danni anyway. Danni explains that she needed this Immunity. She then starts working on Steph voting Judd out. Later, Rafe and Steph talk, they discuss Judd with Danni and keep Cindy out of the loop. Steph doesn’t want to vote him out. But she feels that she needs to do what’s best for her. Lydia is talking to Judd again and tells him he has her vote. She then tells Rafe the same thing. Later Judd tells us that he hopes he isn’t going home tonight.
Tribal Council
Jeff starts the questions. Jeff: So let's talk about the loved ones. Steph, you and Michael have

been going out seven years? It had to be just wonderful to have him out there and experience that with you. Steph: Yeah, it was really special and really awesome because now he can really understand what we've all been going through and it was just like, this sucks. He's like, you guys are tough.
Jeff: Talk about the immunity challenge, Danni is smiling from ear to ear right now.
Danni: Oh, my, gosh. When it came up in the auction to get the advantage, there was no way I was going to let that pass. And fortunately it worked out. Like I started to cry, I've cried twice over spaghetti and immunity. I'm very, very happy and needed it.
Jeff: Cindy, take me through that process emotionally of how it becomes more difficult to vote tonight. Cindy: You have to consider the person you're voting out and how their alliance is going to affect your alliance with whoever is left. Also the person that's going home is going to have some say if you end up in the final two whether or not you win. You got 20 things going through your head that you have to consider.
Jeff: Rafe. Have you started to consider how it's going to be different after tonight's tribal council when you are now down to odd number, five. Rafe: It's like, you don't know exactly who to trust but you have to like kind of believe that you have the right gut feeling about who you can trust around here. Because that's the only thing that's going to get to you the end of the game at this point with this few people left you have to have strong trust to get to the end of the game.
Jeff: Steph, how important is it how you vote somebody out of this game? Steph: For me it's important to vote somebody out and know that you're making the right choice and be able to, if you make it to the final two, to explain yourself. Explain your reasoning behind it. And it's hard. Because you let your emotions get to you, we are all fighting for a million bucks, but we're like family, we really are.
Jeff: Judd, somebody in the family will be going tonight. Judd: Well, I tell what you, to be honest with you, no matter what they all say everybody wants somebody to go home. I mean, they're sitting here making believe like, oh, man, going to stink. That's not the case, man, everybody wants somebody to go home. That's the bottom line. That's what we're here for. Only way you
move on is somebody goes home. No hard feelings, but deal with it. That's basically the way I look at it. If somebody goes home, that's better for me. You just got to trust and love the ones you're with right now.
Jeff gets the voting underway. Rafe is up first and his vote isn’t shown. Danni is second and she votes for Judd and says, “Saying we're girls trying to get a nut, sorry I had to write your name down but I had to do what I had to do today.” Judd’s vote is for Lydia and he says, “Hey, Lydia, you sang and danced your way right out of
the jungle, adios.”
Jeff goes and tallies the votes. 2 Votes are for Lydia and the rest are for Judd. He says a few words as he is taking he torched to be snuffed by Jeff. Judd: Thanks, guys, hope you guys all get bit by a freaky crocodile. Scum bags. Jeff: Judd, the tribe has spoken. Time to go. Judd: Scum bags. Scum bags. Jeff’s final words to the tribe, “After tonight's vote one thing should be very clear. You can no longer rely on what used to be because this game just took a change in a very big way. Grab your torches, go back to camp. Good night.”
Final words from the Juddinator: I'm really pissed off! Man, scum bags man! (Sorry folks, that’s all I got. This guy talks so fast. From what he said he can’t wait till the jury questions.)
