Dear Morty,
I am currently doing a project on the 1960s for
school and I was wondering if you could send me some information on TV
shows such as "Bewitched," "Get Smart" and "I Dream of Jeannie."
Please hurry as it is due within days.
Thank-you,
J.S.C.
The best way to get started is to visit some of the better fan pages on the web. You'll find numerous sites for TV shows from the 1960's including those you've mentioned.
One of the best fan sites I've ever seen
is "The Bewitched / Elizabeth Montgomery
Web Site"
The site is a tribute to Elizabeth Montgomery
and Bewitched. It includes interviews with the stars, pictures,
and history of the series.
Also be sure to read my feature story on Petticoat Junction and the Official Petticoat Junction Page.
If you select shows for your report based on ratings, here's a sample of what was hot in 1966, in Neilson ratings order:
1. Bonanza
2. The Red Skelton Hour
3. The Andy Griffith Show
4. The Lucy Show
5. The Jackie Gleason Show
6. Green Acres
7. Bewitched
8. Daktari
9. The Beverly Hillbillies
10. Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C.
11. The Virginian
12. The Lawrence Welk Show
13. The Ed Sullivan Show
14. The Dean Martin Show
16. Family Affair
17. The Smothers Brothers Show
18. Hogan's Heros
19. Walt Disney
20. Dragnet
Some of these shows are now showing on Nick
at Nite and TV Land, be sure to check out thier web site.
It includes some "where are they now" sections,
and background info.
Good luck with your project,
-Morty-
