Big Brother Canada Runner-up, Karen Singbeil, Buys Historic Grocery Store

The Goldstream News Gazette of Victoria B.C. reports that Karen Singbeil, the runner-up of Big Brother Canada 5 has bought the Willows Park Grocery, a corner store that’s been operating in Oak Bay, British Columbia since 1912.

Karen, who at 52, was the oldest HG to compete on Big Brother Canada and spent 69 days locked in the BB house with 16 strangers, under constant surveillance and completely isolated from the outside world. She came in second against her arch-enemy, professional poker player, “Kevin Robert Martin.”

Karen was a realtor for the last 21 years, but 10 years before that she owned a store similar to the Willows Park Grocery in Scottsdale Arizona.

Karen and her husband Bruce are in the midst of giving the old store a much needed facelift, but will continue to keep the shop open during the remodeling.
